I think I might have Covid. (updated x 2) - Daily Kos

I was fine last night. Woke up this morning to a godawful sore throat and aching like I’d been beaten up in Tinyhands McFelony’s shitty cage match. Took some Tylenol and powered through my morning routine. Animals need feeding and there’s no one else around to do it. I dug out a test kit from last year, followed the directions scrupulously (it’s a little more complicated than a pee test for pregnancy) and got the faint pink line on “T”. Which according to the manufacturer and the internet is still a positive. I’m going to wait until this evening and test again. I don’t want to just assume anything. I’m not going anywhere. Except maybe back to bed. I got my first vaccination as soon as it was available. Got boosters as soon as they were available. Last year, it was not available here. I called the county health people for weeks to check if it was finally here. It never was. So I gave up. Edit- Daughter brought me a new test. The ones I have here were sent out last year (government freebie) with a note saying to disregard the expiration date of 2024. (!) And because I don’t trust those people any further than I can spit I decided I needed a new one. I plan to use it this evening. Turns out that Covid boosters are available now at my pharmacy 🙃 My personal doctor is no longer at the office I go to. I have an appointment with the new one they’ve assigned to me but it’s in August. I’m going to call them about the possibility of getting the antiviral med anyway. My thanks for all the good advice and good wishes. You guys rock! Second edit- I called my doctor’s office. They suggest I call back early tomorrow morning since I don’t appear to have any life-threatening symptoms right now. If I can get a same day appointment it’s possible I might be able to get the antiviral medicine. If I get very much worse I’d need to get to the ER. It’s probably worth mentioning that I’m on AHCCCS, Medicaid in Arizona, and that might affect my ability to get the antiviral medicine. So far my symptoms are pretty much what I experienced with my boosters. It hurts like hell all over with the headache and sore throat fever etc, but no coughing and/or chest pain. I tested positive again a few minutes ago. Third edit- rather than mess around with trying to get a same day appointment at the doctors office I went ahead and scheduled for the urgent care tomorrow morning.
